About Cadillac Performance Parts |
The Potter's have been involved in auto racing since 1958! Jerry Potter , along with Billy Douglass (deceased) from Doulass Engine builders in Chattanooga TN ,campaigned a fuel car back in the old days and put the three big boys on the trailer in one weekend! They were the first to ever use a blower in that class! Would you believe the blower was driven with a motorcycle chain? NHRA tech made them build a make shift guard over it at the first meet!
Potter Automotive became a company in 1974 and did racing engines as well as OEM stock type rebuilds with a full repair shop in front. They were by far, the most reccomended independant shop in town. They've had their hand in many a race car , starting with a "brand new" 69 Dodge Dart with a 440 Wedge, then moving on to a beautiful A Street Roadster with a HEMI.
The white 68 Camaro you see through out the website was a tube frame, all glass car that had their very first Cadillac engine in it! There was no performance parts program for these 500s at that time so each and every part for it was hand built! When it made over 700 HP with iron OEM heads and crank and happened to make it through 2000 gruelling runs with out anymore than an oil change, they knew they were on to something!
Seeing the potential and working from the full machine shop in the back of the buisness, the Potters have developed a complete performance parts line for these engines and now concentrate fully to the development and manufacture of parts and engines for these bullet-proof powerplants!
The repair shop is a thing of the past, but the "hometown" and friendly nature of a family owned business continues to attract more and more people to the Cadillac world. As they still say, advice is always free.... parts are a little extra!
