We strive to make available to you the absolute best quality parts for
the Cadillac 472 and 500 engines. We feel this is the best engineered American V-8 ever and we believe it deserves only top quality parts. After all, it's a Cadillac. All of our parts are laser cut and/or CNC machined to the closest tolerances.
There are a couple of things you'll want to know before you get started on
your project, and we have compiled a few of the basics for you to read over.
Most people are drawn to the Cadillac because of price. That's fine
when you just want to add an intake and a set of springs and a cam and
take off down the street. Keep in mind that the stock valve train and
connecting rods, which were designed to operate at 3500 RPM and below, are the weakest link in the engine. They work fine for stock or mild engines. When you start leaning on your combo, you'll need to replace these items (and we have
many replacements to choose from) or you'll have a big pile of rubble to
sweep up. Even a basic 500 hp street engine needs these upgrades, and
fear not-- it'll make that kind of power and run fine on pump gas. We
have gone as far as over 700 hp on 92 octane fuel-- but, you are looking
at a finely tuned, expensive engine capable of sustaining over 6500 rpm
for long periods of time. That costs!
It costs about the same to make big power with a Cadillac as it does
any other big block. Parts cost and they all use similar parts. The Cadillac's big advantage is a very inexpensive block and crank that will hold anything you can throw at it. With the other guys, you'll have to buy a block and crank to withstand the stress of a high performance engine. We have built carb and gas, blown and turbo charged projects, all on pump gas with very impressive numbers and also with superior longevity. We have a 700+ hp iron headed bracket engine we built about
7 years ago that is still going after over 2000 full bore runs, and has never been down; only valve adjustments and oil changes. That is how
you go bracket racing.
The Cadillac's long stroke makes it highly consistent. You don't have to turn it as hard to do the same work as other engines. Do you want to wrench, or do you want to race?
